On April 24, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a government session through a video call on ensuring employment and resuming activities in economic sectors as well as mitigating the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the people’s life and businesses in the Ferghana and Kashkadarya regions.
  Summary. 
  1. The cases of coronavirus infection are 120 in the Ferghana and 6 in Kashkadarya. Due to virus induced lockdown the production fell sharply at 10, 000 enterprises in Ferghana and 11, 000 in Kashkadarya. The number of unemployed has increased significantly. 56,000 vulnerable families live in Ferghana and 91,000  in Kashkadarya.
  2. The Ministry of Health and local authorities in these regions will make evidence-based proposals for phasing out quarantine restrictions based on the analysis of circumstances in all districts to clarify the high, medium and low risk of coronavirus spread; 
  3. In these regions, it is permitted to continue construction work to ensure employment.
  4. There are orchards and vineyards with an area of 34 k ha (Ferghana) and more than 22 k ha (Kashkadarya) to ensure food supplies and maintain stable prices in the domestic market and secure jobs for low-income families.
