Uzbekistan-UK military cooperation

On May 19, 2020 Uzbek and UK officials held a virtual discussion of regional security issues, MODs’ assistance in fighting Covid-19 and bilateral military cooperation.
Ambassador Said Rustamov, Dilshod Khasanov, Head of Chief Department of International Relations of the Uzbek MOD, Nick Gurr, Director Central Asia and Euro Atlantic Security of the UK MOD and Alan Huyton, UK Defence Attaché in Tashkent, participated the videocall.
Mr Gurr supported Uzbekistan’s reform agenda and regional policy that contributes to stability and prosperity in Central Asia. He highly appreciated measures taken by Government of Uzbekistan to prevent the spread of the coronavirus infection in the country and resolve the consequences of the Sardoba dam bursting.
Both sides expressed their mutual interest in enhancing cooperation in the field of security and defense, holding regular consultations to exchange views and implement the agreements.
