Uzbekistan will loosen the lockdown gradually

On May 13 President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a government session on measures to further relax the lockdown and revitalize economic sectors while maintaining a high level of vigilance and strict control over the epidemiological situation.

Key points:

1. In April over $300m were allocated from the Anti-Crisis Fund to combat the pandemic and support the population and businesses.

2. 87k companies were granted an extension to pay bank loans totaling $1,7bn and 2m citizens over $492m.

3. 10k out of 14k industrial enterprises restarted their business activity and 178k employees returned to their jobs.

3. 70k low-income families will be granted another over $19,6m from the state budget at the next stage.

4. Small-sized businesses will be exempt from land tax and property tax over the next 3 months.

5. Local flights between Tashkent and Nukus, Urgench, Termez, as well as the high-speed Afrosiyob train to Samarkand, Navoi, Bukhara, Karshi and the Ferghana Valley will resume step by step.
