On May 5, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a government session through a video call on ongoing work in Uzbekistan to combat coronavirus.

Uzbekistan intends to gradually loosen the lockdown, as these restrictions have a huge negative impact on economic development and people's lives. The first steps have been taken to lift the quarantine in order to create convenience for our people, especially farmers and entrepreneurs.

Key points:

1. The epidemiological situation in Uzbekistan is steadily stabilizing. Out of the 2,204 patients infected with coronavirus 1,454 patients (66%) have fully recovered.

2. 83% of quarantined people have returned home. 740 patients are remaining in hospitals.

3. Around $2.2bn from the Anti-Crisis Fund and $500m from funds of international financial institutions were allocated to fight coronavirus crisis.
